Slideshow on the definition of life
Notes on three classmate's presentations
Lachlan McBride's Presentation
One of the differences was that he talked more about the characteristics of life and I talked more about the definition of life. We also as the difference that I talked about extra terrestrial life and Lachlan didn't. Instead, he talked about how a liger is technically alive but cannot have fertile offspring.
Giggy Andrew's presentation
Giggly included a lot of quotes about NASA and life in other places. Giggy said that life has to be able to reproduce, but he also pointed out that this alone can not support life. I included something similar in my presentation about how the definitions of life can not define it by themselves. He talked about life on mars and I talked about the differences between dead and cryptobiotic tardigrades.
Christopher Potter's presentation
Chris talks mainly about the six characteristics of life. He also has pictures that he explains and uses as visuals. We both used the characteristics in some way though. Another similarity was that we both had conclusions.

What does it mean to be alive?
According to Alex McDonald and myself, something is alive if it can react to its environment in some way. Creatures are alive because they can respond to stimuli. All living things do depend on nonliving sources. For example, plants rely on the sun for energy and warmth. We decided that all species of life must have at least one cell, grow/move, consume some source of nutrition, depend on their environment, and reproduce. Lachlan and Eli asked us how many characteristics of life there are. Alex and I said that there are six characteristics.
